Deborah Lippmann vs. Sally Hansen

Good morning! Its Monday… Let’s brighten it up with some glitter! This past Wednesday I got a package in the mail from a great friend I met on IG. I had mentioned that I needed to get Starry Starry Night from Essie and she immediately said here have mine!! Along with SSN she also sent me my very first Deborah Lippmann polish, Across The Universe. They are some pricey polishes so this was a super sweet thing to do! Thanks Jamee 🙂 I have owned Mermaid’s Tale from Sally Hansen for quite a while and never used it. I figured now that I have the expensive version let’s compare!

Let’s start with the formula. MT was thicker while ATU was very thin but silky. Honestly, I prefer the Sally Hansen formula. It just isn’t as easy to work with a thin formula. It runs and floods the cuticles. The glitter to base ratio was exact to me. Same glitters, same colors, same sizes. The weird thing I did notice, ATU glitters were shinier. I checked in all sorts of light but it was always flashier. Maybe the base is a little clearer idk. Here are the pics!

Best Silver Holos Ever!!!

Hi friends!! 2 nights in a row! Weird right? Well, today has been a good day and last night I had time to do some swatches for this post I have had in my head for a while. Seems holographic polish and/or glitter is THE thing to have for any kind of manicure! Since my husband works and I stay home, I don’t have tons of money for indies. But, it just so happens that the silver holo polishes/glitters I do have are some of the best and/or most sought after! Wow, lots of slashes lol!! On with the post! First up, bottle shots:

PAINTED POLISH “DRUNK ON HOLO”
This polish is the olny one of the four made of square micro glitters! It is also the only one with a flat wide brush. These things really stood out. The only thing I can say about this polish is that it took a little extra to fully coat the nail. This was 3 thick coats with topcoat. There are other ways to get better glitter coverage but for this post I wanted to highlight the polish for itself. It was very smooth for so much glitter. Laid totally flat and only needed one thin coat of topcoat to smooth it over.
FANTASY MAKERS LOOSE GLITTER “GLITZ”
This one was a little different. I put base coat on the nail then sprinkled the glitter over my nail. I didnt press down or anything. I just let it do its thing! After about a minute I used a fan brush to brush all the excess glitter off. Another 3-5 minutes later I did the same thing over again. No pressing and no topcoat! I love the texture it left. Im sure I could have smoothed it with topcoat. I just didnt want to lol. This is a hex micro loose glitter.

ORLY “MIRRORBALL”
this one has been flying off of store shelves everywhere its sold. This polish is a silver linear holo polish with mini silver holo hexes. What a super stunner!! I have already used this to make Christmas ornaments and a bunch of manis. I need a backup. Then I need a backup of the backup. Not for me but for a lucky someone else!! So lets all take a moment of silence and pray I can find more!!!!! This can be worn over any color to make it holo or on its own in 3 thin coats. I have it here alone (3 coats) with topcoat.

SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL “PRINCESS”
Last but most certainly not least is this beauty right here!! Princess is super close to Drunk On Holo. I used 3 coats for this with top coat. It is made up of hex micro glitters. This laid nice and flat and had total coverage in 3 thin coats. It also smoothed out with just 1 thin coat of top coat!

So, which is your favorite? I dont think I could decide! I am just happy I have them all 🙂

Fresh Paint ~ Guava

Hello fellow polish lovers!! Feels like forever since i have blogged. Just haven’t had the motivation i guess!  I also havent had much to blog about!! But that will change very soon. I have a brush review and a cuticle oil review coming up!! I recently found out that the store 5 Below has polishes based off of the movie Frozen. Now, if any of you have kids(especially girls) you know just how huge this movie is!! So when my husband said he was going right by the store i asked if he could pick up a set for each of the girls. They are put away for now as presents and i have t gotten my own set to review yet but im sure they will be coming lol. Anyways, my husband also came back with this amazing polish! It is from the brand Fresh Paint and it is called Guava. What an awesome neon!! I used it for 3 manicures in a row and didnt even realize it because i love it that much!! Its formula is just amazing for a neon polish. I had no streaking and a very smooth finish after 2 coats. It does NOT dry completely matte. More of a waxy finish. For these pictures i am using top coat. I also compared it to the ever so popular China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy. It was a little more orange toned than FFF but really close. FFF has a very picky formula though that i would rather not deal with. I used 3 normal coats on my middle finger in the last few pics. Also using top coat. Check it out and leave a comment!! I would love to know what you think!! Guava alone.

Guava and CG FFF

Overall, i would say that for the price and formula the fresh paint polish is way better!! Hurry and go get yours!!

Sally Hansen ~ Pacific Blue comparison

Hey my fellow polish lovers!! So there is a huge deal about this reformulation of Sally Hansens Pacific Blue #420. As soon as I heard about it i knew i wanted to grab an original before they were gone. I mentioned it to my husband while swatching and the next day he came home with a huge smile! He says,” i grabbed you the last pacific blue they had.” He put his hand in his pocket and pulled out the new, darker pacific blue. He must have seen the “ugh” look on my face because he immediately asked if he should return it. I figured it would be good to hold onto for comparison purposes. And with all the up roar i figured todays the day! First i compared it to China Glaze’s Frostbite. They are very similar. Except for the fact that the new Sally hansen is a jelly polish. Check it out. I did Frostbite on my pinkie and middle fingers, and the new Pacific Blue on my ring and pointer. 3 coats each with topcoat.

Here is the original Pacific Blue alone. 2 coats no topcoat!!

And lastly this is both the new and old Pacific Blue! The new on my ring finger and the old on the rest.

Final thoughts: i didnt like the formula on the new one at all. Its pretty but not anywhere near as stand out as the original!! If you can get your hand on the old one before its gone for good!!!!
