Hello! In my last post I shared that winter is my favorite season. Today I will show you a set of polishes I got to make with a winter theme! I am calling it my Girly Christmas Trio. Each polish was hand made by me from the Make Your Own Polish Kit. This kit comes with everything you need to make 3 bottles of polish. Let’s see what comes in the kit.
I will have my mixing videos on YouTube along with my live swatches. This whole thing is just so cool. It put me behind the scenes of one of my all time favorite things. So here is what I did. I read through the booklets to get an idea of how much to use of what, then I just wung it lol. I knew I wanted a red and a purple. The last one I just went with my heart. Let’s check them out.
Christmas Crush is a red jelly/crelly polish. After I read the amounts I accidentally added 1 less scoop of pigment. What I was really going for was a deep opaque red. I am not upset with what I got though at all! It’s a bright red with a pink undertone. It is perfect for Christmas time and that was my main concern. The formula is smooth and totally self leveling. I used 3 coats for my swatches.
Christmas Dreams is a medium blue toned purple with pink and blue shimmers. This turned out exactly as I was hoping! This is why the MYOP Kit is the best. Total customization. I knew I wanted a blue toned purple and I made it happen. Again, the formula is smooth and very easy to work with. And yes, I did use the right amount of scoops of pigment this time lol. It ended in a much more opaque polish. 2 coats for my swatches.
Christmas Magic is the lightest pink ever lol. Most of the time it looks white. I purposely did that because I wanted a white with pink shimmer and only the pink pigment had pink shimmer. I actually love that it kept that tiny touch of pink in the base color. I forgot to mention this so far but all 3 of these polishes stamp. For the art I only used this kit! I love me a polish that can multitask. This formula was a tad bit tricky with leveling. It just didn’t really want to. This could be a 2 coat polish but because of that little issue, I used 3 coats for my swatches.
This MYOP Kit was so much fun. If you want to whip up your own personal shade I highly recommend this. The only thing I think this kit could use are little option packs. Like a small bit of glitter to add or flakies or whatever could be added into polish. I also think it would be neat if they did holiday themed kits throughout the year. They don’t need these things. The kit was super fun on it’s own, just my thoughts and opinions 🙂 Each kit costs $39. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed putting it together for you!
